How does Urocit-K work?
The potassium citrate in Urocit-K works partly by restoring the natural occuring chemicals that block the formation of stones. By normalising the urinary environment, calcium stones and crystal formation are inhibited.

Urocit-K also reduces the tendency of uric acid to form stones. Most patients with this type of stone, when treated with Urocit-K did not form stones at all. In those who still formed stones, the stones developed at a lower rate than before treatment.

Urocit-K and the Unique Wax Matrix System
Urocit-K is the only potassium citrate medication approved for the treatment of calcium and uric acid stones. It's also unique as it contains potassium citrate in a wax matrix tablet. This wax matrix system delivers a slow, sustained release of medication which allows for convenient twice-a-day dosing....once in the morning, and once at night. The slow release tablets also caused less gastrointestinal upsets.
