Salofalk® (mesalsazine) 500mg tablets available on the PBS for Crohn’s Disease from August 1st 2005.

Salofalk® tablets, previously listed on the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for the treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis has received an extended listing from August 1st 2005 to: Colitis and Crohn’s disease where hypersensitivity to sulphonamides exists; Colitis and Crohn’s disease where intolerance to sulfasalazine exists; Authority Required (100 tablets + 5 repeats).

Salofalk is available in a convenient 500mg tablet which is well tolerated and offers the convenience of ingesting fewer tablets than other forms of mesalazine tablets.

Salofalk is also available in granule and enema formulations. All Salofalk formulations, including tablets, are indicated for acute and maintenance treatment of ulcerative colitis of mild to moderate severity.
